The 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has been the primary focus for Dale Earnhardt Jr and his crew chief Steve Letarte since Earnhardt returned to the track after missing two weeks via a concussion.
Earnhardt has had a career high season this season that including ending his winless steak in Michigan on the four year anniversary of his last victory. He sat runner up to Matt Kenseth for the majority of the regular season, but the seeding for the Chase sent him back to 7th and he never recovered before being sidelined.
He and the Diet Dew crew will contnue to move forward and prepare for yet another championship run in 2013. So this week they decided to bring 2013 into 2012 by driving the #88 painted up in their new colors for next year.
It’s a very big change that is yet very small. The blue and the white have simply switched places on the National Guard Chevy. It will be the first changes made to the National Guard colors since they and Earnhardt partnered up in 2008 where blue has been the primary color. Now the car will show a mostly white color on the hood and top with a darker/navy blue will color the sides of the car.
