Kasey Kahne’s 2013 season cannot be as stressful to Kahne as his 2012 season. After a really rough start Kahne rebounded and finished with one finish outside the top 5 in the last 10 races. Kahne turned his season around and finished 4th in points.
2013 so far has gone pretty good for Kahne even though its not even 2013 yet. Great Clips announced on November 26th that they would sponsor Kahne for three Sprint Cup races. According to Sporting New 22 races will be sponsored by Farmers Insurance, and Quaker State and Time Warner Cable will both sponsor 4 races. So sponsorship is one less problem Kahne and his team have to worry about.
“I want to win more”-Kasey Kahne at the 2012 NASCAR Season Banquet
It isn’t hurting that he was the fastest car in a test session at Charlotte. His lap was over 193 miles an hour and it seems Kahne has a good hold on this new car. Since the cup series is using a new car it gives all of the drivers an equal playing field and that could be Kahne an advantage to Kahne.
This is also Kahnes 2nd season with Hendrick Motorsports which means Kahne is well aware of how things work around that team so Kahne will not have to adjust to a new team and only has to focus on winning races. Leaving the 2012 season on a very positive note and being the fastest in a test session certainly has to be momentum going into the 2013 Daytona 500 a race last year he failed to finish in. Also since restrictor plate races are always up for grabs i wouldn’t be surprised to see Kahne win the race. Kahne is one of my three picks (Keselowski and Kenseth are the other two) to win the Daytona 500. Also don’t be surprised if you see Kahne taking the pole and one of the duel races as well.
2013 could possibly be a championship year and it also would not surprise me to see Kahne pick up a few more wins then he did last year. With no bad luck and some wins Kasey Kahne could easily win the 2013 NASCR Sprint Cup Series championship.
