Kurt Busch to Run Nationwide Plate Races for James Finch

When Phoenix Racing and AJ Allmendinger arrived at Charlotte Motor Speedway last fall with a smiley face on the hood of their race car…many thought it was an “unintentional” message being sent to Kurt Busch that the Phoenix Racing team was happy for a fresh start without him.

However, that may not be the case like many felt it was.

James Finch asked Busch if he would return to the team in the Nationwide Series to run their three races at the restrictor plate races (Two at Daytona and One at Talladega).

Busch agreed and now Phoenix Racing will get to reunite with their “Outlaw,” Kurt Busch again in 2013!

When asked why he wanted to bring Busch back, Finch replied,  “We have a shot at winning all three.”

Busch and Phoenix Racing’s first win together last year nearly came at Sonoma in the Sprint Cup Series, however they came just short. But they did get one win together and it came at last summer’s spectaculer Nationwide Series race at Daytona.

Busch won the race with a heavily damage race car after getting collected in a wreck earlier in the race and even spent time a lap down.
