Michael McDowell and Phil Parsons Racing have announced their plans for the 2013 Sprint Cup Series season.
Both McDowell and Parsons will reunite for the second consecutive season to run the full 36 race schedule.
McDowell raced in 30 of the 36 races last year for Parsons as well as running six races in the Nationwide Series for Joe Gibbs Racing.
“Everything is coming together for us to have a great season,” McDowell said. “We have new cars, new bodies and lots of potential. Our team has really hustled over the off season to get us prepared for 2013. They’ve put together some awesome cars, and with Roush Yates horsepower under the hood, I know we can run with some of the best teams in the sport. I have a lot to look forward to this year and can’t wait for the green flag in Daytona.”
Whether or not the team will start and park is yet to be known. The team has sponsorship for Daytona and has some financial partners coming along as associate sponsors, which is similar to last season’s case for the team in which they mostly started and parks early on in the races.
The team is still pursuing new sponsorship to join K-LOVE and Curb Records to put on the car. K-LOVE will sponsor Daytona, and potentially a few other races this season. Curb Records will serve as an associate sponsor.
“I’ve never been more excited about the beginning of a season,” team owner Phil Parsons said. “We have some great relationships that are continuing, as well as some new ones, which have us very optimistic about 2013. I want to thank K-LOVE, Curb Records, Hyde Park Storage Suites and Ford for all of their support. Their partnerships have allowed us to grow and develop as a team, and we look forward to a great year with them.”
McDowell’s best finish was a 23rd place finish at Bristol last season. He and Parsons look to improve on that number in 2013 with Gene Nead remaining behind the pit box for the #98 team.
