Trevor Bayne Could Run Full-Time Sprint Cup Series in 2014

Some overlooked news from this past week’s Sprint Media Tour out of the Jack Roush-Fenway Racing Camp…Trevor Bayne could be running full-time in the Sprint Cup Series in 2014.

Jack Roush said that the team’s current goal is to not only help Bayne win the Nationwide Series championship, but it is to also to get him running full-time in the Sprint Cup Series for the 2014 season.

Bayne has run a part-time schedule for the Wood Brother Racing team since 2011. He become a hot commodity by winning his first race with the team in the Daytona 500.

Again for 2013, Bayne will run another part-time schedule, but does have a full season scheduled in Roush’s #6 Mustang in the Nationwide Series.

Bayne’s current contract is with Roush-Fenway Racing, who supplies engines and chassis to the Wood Brothers, so if finances and sponorship issues are worked out, he plans to have Bayne running full-time in the Sprint Cup Series.

Whether the plan is to run Bayne full-time in the #21 Wood Brothers Ford or in the returning #6 Roush-Fenway Racing Ford is unknown. More details will become available obviously at the conclusion of this season when teams begin working on their 2014 packages and lineups.
