One thing that this off-season hasn’t had is a dose of Tony Stewart and his always unique commentary. I’m sure when speedweeks arrives we’ll get plenty of until Homestead-Miami.
Steve Addington will return as his crew chief for the second season despite rumors that Stewart was looking to replace Addington.
Stewart did lose primary sponsor Office Depot after a multi-year partnership. Office Depot is scaling back on the sponsorships across the board. However, Stewart’s close relationship with the Morris family landed him a new sponsor in Bass Pro Shops. They will be on board for 18 races this year. Mobil 1 will be on the #14 Chevrolet for 11 races.
There are nine races that Stewart still needs sponsorship for 9 races to complete the season.
As team owner, Stewart has been busy making off-season changes at Stewart-Haas Racing. Adding Danica Patrick full-time in the #10 with Tony Gibson, and bringing Matt Borland on as Ryan Newman’s new crew chief.
He is also busy on denying rumors that his close friend Kevin Harvick is leaving Richard Childress Racing at the seasons end to join his stable next season.
After falling a bit off pace in 2012, Stewart looks to get back to the top of things and win a fourth championship in 2013!
