The dark horse of 2012 was most definitely Clint Bowyer. Many thought his move to Michael Waltrip Racing would ruin his career, instead it took it to places, Bowyer had never been before.
After a strong 2012 performance that led Bowyer and his crew chief Brian Pattie to a second place finish in the final drivers standings, everything appears to be looking that it will be returning in the place as Michael Waltrip left it in after Homestead-Miami.
Bowyer will return obviously after that strong first season in the #15 and Five-Hour Energy Drink will return as the primary sponsor for most of the races. PEAK Motor Oil also comes on board for three races in the next three seasons. Aaron’s will sponsor the car at Talladega in April.
However the team is still search for sponsorship. During the Sprint Media Tour Bowyer was asked about the second place hangover and sponsorship in which he replied:
“I’ve had a lot of hangovers, you fight through them.” For the sponsorship issues, “We’re definitely looking for some more sponsors on our car.”
Brian Pattie also will return behind the pit box this season.
Bowyer raced in the Rolex 24 at Daytona just last weekend with his team owner’s Waltrip and Rob Kaufmann.
