With James Jakes’ ride at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and the second Schmidt Peterson Car confirmed as full time it gives the series 24 full time teams at this point, and Dragon Racing could field one more, pushing the total to 25. The field should swell to 27 cars or more at Long Beach and with and part time entries possible from Conquest and AFS Racing, and Michael Shank Racing there could be a few races with 28 cars. Currently there are three additional entries confirmed for Indy with the possibility of one more Penske entry, there’s a minimum of 27 cars for Indy before other teams start fielding additional cars.
