After one of the worst luck seasons any NASCAR driver has seen, Todd Bodine is looking to rebound. He was not re-signed at Red Horse Racing and left searching for a job when sponsorship gave him the boot at Red Horse Racing.
Today Thorsport Racing and team owner Duke Thorson announced that the team will field a third truck at Daytona with two-time champion Todd Bodine behind the wheel.
Bodine will drive the No. 13 Mattei Air Compressor Toyota as teammate to both Johnny Sauter and Matt Crafton.
“It’s definitely a good opportunity with an established team that has a season of running Toyotas behind them,” he said in a released statement. “They’ve been there and done that, and they know how to get it done. Daytona’s one of those tracks that’s kind of a crap shoot. You have to put yourself in the right position and if you have a decent truck, you can do something with it. I believe we’ve got as good a shot as anybody down there.”
The deal is for once race only, of course sponsorship can always change and Bodine could find himself behind the wheel for more races.
Bodine has earned 22 victories in 212 career Truck Series starts and looks to add more next weekend at Daytona International Speedway.
