Today has been a big day in the career of Ryan Truex. A former Joe Gibbs Racing developmental driver, Truex was left without a ride for 2013 and has spend most of this year searching for a new team.
Today Truex announced that he will race in Friday night’s Camping World Truck Series season opening race in Daytona. He will drive the #30 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet for Turner Scott Motorsports.
Truex also tweeted that he hopes to compete full-time for Turner Scott Motorsports in the Camping World Truck Series. He is working on finding sponsorship to make that happen.
He then announced that he will be making his Sprint Cup Series debut in 2013. He will drive for Phoenix Racing at Richmond. He will be running several more races for Phoenix Racing, but that schedule has not been announced just yet. He will then also drive for Phoenix Racing in the Nationwide Series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Truex has eight top-tens in thirty-three career Nationwide Series starts. He nearly won at his home track in Dover, but his then teammate Joey Logano passed him in the closing laps of the race to win the race.
It appears that Truex will be choosing to collect points towards a truck series championship in 2013!
