Las Vegas: Kobalt Tools 400 Fantasy Pick Favorites

This weekend the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is heading just a little ways north to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Kobalt Tools 400. This week on Beyond the Flag we’re going to analyze the the favorites to win the race and run well. This of course should help you with your fantasy picks this week!

Jimmie Johnson. Need I say more? Besides his early dominance in the first two weeks, he has four wins at Las Vegas. Five top-5’s and six top-10s are also on his resume. His average running position of 12.2 is the third best of the active Sprint Cup Series drivers. Johnson has the series best driver rating with 110.9.

Fresh off of his victory last weekend, Carl Edwards is a good choice to go with for Las Vegas too. He has two wins, three top-5’s, and four top-10s at the speedway. His average finish in Las Vegas is 10.3 which is just slightly better than his 12.0 average running position.

Matt Kenseth is showing some strength despite the engine issues of Joe Gibbs Racing cars. At LVMS he has two wins, five top-5’s, six top-10s, and one pole. His average finish is 12.5. He has the seventh best driver rating, 95.9.

Of course last year’s winner, Tony Stewart! He finally got the first win last season at Las Vegas. He has six top-5’s and nine top-10s. He holds the fourth best running average position. Don’t count Smoke out just yet, this could be where he gets back on track for 2013!
