F1: Malaysian Grand Prix Preview

Last week the Formula One circuit kicked off the 2013 season with the Australian Grand Prix…this week they head to Asia for the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit.

Kimi Raikkonen made a message last weekend that Lotus has plenty of power and speed. Ferrari seems to agree but thinks that they can compete and do better than Lotus has so far. McLaren? They’ve struggling to find speed and have entertained the idea of possibly going back to their 2012 car before the season gets too far away from them.

There’s a good chance Fernando Alonso and Ferrari can back up their claims this weekend. Alonso is the defending race champion and looks to defend that title on Sunday.

It’s monsoon season and it appears that there are great chances of thunderstorms through out the entire weekend. That could damper the schedule and plans of the teams this weekend. If the weather stays dry, it means tire strategy will be a factor. The rough track surface has a reputation for being tough on tires.
