Auto Club: NASCAR Gambling and Odds

This week the Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series head to Fontana, California for the Royal Purple 300 on Saturday and the Auto Club 400 on Sunday. After a pretty good race at Bristol last week, will Fontana be as good? Probably not but that’s why we have Las Vegas to make racing more interesting. Let’s see who the gambling world has favored this week.

For the Sprint Cup race on Sunday, the favorite is Jimmie Johnson whose odds are 11/2. That honestly surprises me a little bit, but it is Jimmie Johnson and he is one of the greatest at Auto Club Speedway. Pole sitter Denny Hamlin is 12/1. Fan favorite and having a great year Dale Earnhardt Jr. is at 12/1 and I personally would put him as the top spot this week. Last week’s winner is at 9/1 and I would also put him as one of the favorites to win this race. Timmy Hill who is making his first Sprint Cup Series start of the year is marked at 1/1000. Danica Patrick is set at 200/1 which is not much of a surprise.

For the Nationwide Series race on Saturday, the favorite is Kyle Busch who is at 19/10. My pick Sam Hornish Jr. has odds of 10/1.  Brad Keselowski has a 4/1 shot of winning.

Maybe this year with a new car the race at Fontana will be an exciting one. At least with the new car there is a reason to watch and that’s to see how it reacts. Also, the speeds are topping around 207 miles per hour before they go into turn one. That is insanely fast and it’s great too see a lot of speed in a race.
