Roger Penske, the car owner of driver Joey Logano, says NASCAR needs to put what happened at last week’s Auto Club race behind them. He thinks that what happened was just part of the sport and should not be looked at anything different.
Penske said in an interview with the AP :
Roger Penske is right in what he says because it is part of the sport and it always has been. There have been fights in NASCAR before NASCAR was even organized. It happens at all levels of racing and usually by the next week the drivers are just focusing on winning the races. There have been a few occasions where the actions have carried over to other races like the Kurt Busch-Jimmy Spencer rivalry in the early 2000s.
Penske has also said that the incident last week has not changed anything with his thoughts on Logano. He is still backing him up which really is what he has to do. If he didn’t then that might affect Logano during the race. Penske has texted Hamlin saying he wishes him a full and fast recovery. Also he said that Logano and Hamlin have exchanged text messages on their own. Logano has not done any interviews but he did tweet saying he wishes Denny Hamlin a fast recovery.
So maybe the Logano-Hamlin feud might be over but we still have the Logano-Stewart feud. Although that might be over as well as last year Stewart said after the Bristol race he was going to wreck Matt Kenseth whenever he gets the chance although he never did. Either way whatever happens this has brought a lot of excitement to NASCAR which it desperately needed.
