Martinsville: STP Gas Booster 500 Preview, TV Schedule

After a week off the best of NASCAR returns to the track and this weekend they tame the paperclip known as Martinsville Speedway.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., your current points leader, looks to extend his lead and finally clinch that victory at Martinsville. Statistically speaking, this is Earnhardt’s best track and despite not winning their, he can’t be far from finally doing just that. This weekend he has a good chance of winning. He’s leading the point standings and has been on a hot streak so far this early Sprint Cup Series season.

Earnhardt’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Jimmie Johnson, however is looking to take back the spot he feels belongs to him. Johnson has been consistent but has run into a few issues, including Bristol when he cut a tire. That has sent him back to third in the point standings.

This week Mark Martin finds himself back at the track driving for Denny Hamlin in the No. 11. Brian Vickers is behind the wheel of the No. 55. After this weekend, the drivers will swap rides until Hamlin returns where Vickers and Martin will continue to share those duties with team owner Michael Waltrip.
