Team Penske Looks to Continue IndyCar Dominance at Barber Motorsports Park

The IZOD IndyCar Series made their debut at the Barber Motorsports Park in 2010. They’ve had three races since their debut. They’ve had two different winners. Only one team can claim they’ve won every race at Barber…Team Penske.

This weekend Team Penske looks to continue their dominance at one of the newer circuits on the IndyCar schedule by going four-for-four with another win. Ganassi Racing has come close each year by finishing second with strong finishes from Scott Dixon, but hasn’t been able to close the deal.

They [Penske] have three drivers entered in for the event. Helio Castroneves will be in his No. 3 Chevrolet and Will Power will be behind the wheel of his No. 12 Chevrolet, but making his IZOD IndyCar Series and a triumphant return to Team Penske is AJ Allmendinger.

Allemendinger will be the third driver for Penske this weekend and at Indianapolis later this season driver the No. 2 entry. Allmendinger has found a great deal of success in open wheel racing in the CHAMP Car World Series, before they merged with IndyCar. He left before the merge and joined NASCAR with Red Bull Racing. Allmendinger was fired by Penske last season after he failed a drug test administered by NASCAR.

Penske’s dominance began with Castroneves winning the inaugural race. Will Power has won the last two races in Alabama. Power has a history of being fast at Barber and has a very good chance of winning his third consecutive race at the circuit and holding onto Penske’s perfect record.
