Tough Season for Joey Logano Stays Tough

2013 was a season of change and new territory for Joey Logano. He left Joe Gibbs Racing and joined Sprint Cup Championship contending team, Penske Racing. Yet, has had horrible luck and tough breaks all season long with little good.

We all know that Bristol was tough on Logano after racing Denny Hamlin hard. That feud just kept on grinding into Auto Club Speedway where Logano would tangle with Hamlin yet again. Hamlin of course was wrecked after Logano tried to come back up into the groove but slide across Hamlin’s nose sending Hamlin’s No. 11 head first into the inside wall. Hamlin has not raced since that weekend because of his injuries.

But the drama didn’t end with Hamlin in Fontana. Tony Stewart was none-too-pleased with how Logano raced him on a restart late in the race. Logano trying to race for the lead pushed Smoke into the infield grass and that didn’t sit well with Smoke one bit. Stewart confronted Logano and began throwing punches before they were separated.

Thinking that the bad things were going away, Logano and his teammate Brad Keselowski were then slammed with penalties after the NRA 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Of course Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon’s teams were scrutinized for supposedly snitching out the Penske teams.

Then came Kansas. A rather solid run by Logano ended short when Kyle Busch spun for the second time in the race and slid down right in front of Logano. Logano’s car took a nasty hit and suffered a great deal of damage.

Can Logano turn his season around? Can he still make the Chase?
