Nationwide Expands Sponsorship; Sponsoring Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Nationwide Insurance has been around NASCAR for many years. Then they expanded their role in the sport when they took over the sponsorship of the NASCAR Busch Series when Anheuser-Busch left as the series sponsor. Now they are expanding their role once again.

Beginning this season with three races, Nationwide Insurance will sponsor rookie Ricky Stenhouse Jr. as the primary sponsor and will also be an associate sponsor on the remaining races. In 2014, Nationwide Insurance will sponsor Stenhosue in four events as well as remaining as an associate sponsor for the other events.

Roush-Fenway Racing and Nationwide Insurance announced the new two-year partnership yesterday.

“We’ve had a 15-year presence in NASCAR and this is the first time we’ve sponsored a car in any NASCAR series,” said Matt Jauchius (CMO of Nationwide Insurance) yesterday in a released statement. “We built a solid relationship with Roush Fenway and two-time NASCAR Nationwide Series champion and Nationwide Insurance member, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and we’re eager to carry that momentum forward and enhance our existing integrated NASCAR marketing platform.”

For 2013, Nationwide Insurance will be the colors of the No. 17 Ford Fusion on August 24th at Bristol, September 7th at Richmond, and October 20th at talladega. The races for 2014 have not yet been announced nor selected.

Nationwide Insurance has also worked with Stenhouse’s girlfriend, Danica Patrick, in a professional partnership.
