It’s all-star weekend for the stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series as they are in Charlotte for the next two weeks of exciting action at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Each week at Beyond the Flag we like to provide a preview, starting line, TV schedule, predictions and more for each race! This weekend there is two races for the Sprint Cup Series in one night, and that’s not going to stop us!

First Place (Advances to All-Star main event race): Martin Truex Jr.
He’s the one to beat and has been fast all weekend. His losing streak has been so close to finally ending, but misfortune has put Truex outside of victory lane. He’s on the pole and has a clear shot in turn one to move right on past McMurray and run away with the Showdown. Unless some bizarre bad luck strikes, expect to see Truex in victory lane and in the all-star race!
Second Place (Advances to All-Star main event race): Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Most people have Paul Menard as the driver who will grab the second qualifying position that advances to the Sprint All-Star race, but I’m going with Stenhouse. he was fasted in practice and has success at this track in the Nationwide Series.
Sprint Fan Vote (Advances to All-Star main event race): Danica Patrick
This is a no brainer! Unless she wrecks herself trying to wreck David Gilliland, she’s going to advance via the Sprint Fan Vote. There is little faith that she races herself into the main event and with Dale Earnhardt Jr. already in the show, she’s the next big star.
