Tony Stewart Remakes Smokey and The Bandit

Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart is channeling is inner Smokey and The Bandit with the help of Mobile 1. For those that are not aware, Smokey and The Bandit was a movie starring Burt Reynolds and Sally Field. The movie was the fourth most popular film in 1977 and was responsible for making every guy want to own a black Trans Am.

Mobil 1, the Official Motor Oil of NASCAR has teamed up with Stewart to produce a new video series which pay homage the the movie. The video series is titled Smoke and The Bandit, which of course is a fun play on Stewart’s nickname. The video series stars Stewart who plays The Bandit character. Throughout the video series Stewart is involved in non-stop laughs as he attempts to convince his friends to go along with his vision.

Stewart isn’t the only big name in these videos. The series will also include Darrell Waltrip, Ricky Craven, Hermie Sadler, Jeff Hammond and Nicole Briscoe. In a recent interview when asked about having the opportunity to be a part of this project, Stewart had the following to say;

Smokey and the Bandit is still my all-time favorite movie. Bringing this legendary movie back to the screen – with the Bandit’s black Trans Am and all – has been an absolute blast and I hope the fans have just as much fun watching the videos.

The series rolled out it’s first video on March 6th, titled Episode One “The Challenge.” Every two weeks Mobile 1 will release two more episodes of the series. If you want to see the videos you can watch them on the Mobil 1 YouTube channel at www.YouTube.com/Mobil1 and on the Mobil 1 Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/Mobil1.

Stewart is hoping that he can run just as fast as The Bandit this weekend in Las Vegas. Stewart is looking to rebound from a rough start to the season after poor finishes in Dayton and Phoenix.
