UPDATE – More information about Montoya’s return to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series can be found HERE. In the meantime, please send out a prayer to any drivers that get near him on the track and the Air Titan.
Juan Pablo Montoya spent seven seasons in NASCAR from 2006-2013. During his NASCAR career Montoya managed to win only twice, with both of those wins coming on road courses. The driver of the No. 42 machine left NASCAR following to 2013 season to drive for Penske in the IndyCar Series.
Montoya came into Sprint Cup hoping to find success after having been successful in other series. Unfortunately for him that success in NASCAR was never found. The thing that Montoya might be known most for during his NASCAR career was wrecking. Whether through his own fault or bad luck, the man did a lot of wrecking and caused a lot of wrecking.
Below is a YouTube video that was put together by thatguyonstage. The video highlights 60 altercations that involved Montoya from 2006-2013 as well as his debut race in 2005. Yes, he did indeed wreck during his Sprint Cup debut.
Now be honest, how many times have you been watching a race and heard “Montoya in the wall” and were not surprised? All joking aside there is no denying that Montoya is a skilled driver. There is also no denying that he has wrecked a serious amount of cars in a short amount of time.
Anybody make a wager on whether or not he wrecks if he runs the Brickyard 400 in Sprint Cup this season?
