The last 24 hours have been filled with ups and downs for NASCAR driver Danica Patrick. Unconfirmed sources are reporting that Patrick is on her way out at Stewart Haas Racing. The sources are saying that the driving force behind her departure might be her recent marriage to Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Patrick and Stenhouse reportedly tied the knot Monday evening in Patrick’s hometown of Beloit, Wisconsin. The marriage came after a short engagement that the couple decided to keep private in an effort to avoid distractions on the track. The two exchanged their vows in small ceremony that included family and close friends. Although there is no official word as to why they chose to tie the knot when they did, one would have to assume that they figured there wasn’t any reason to put it off any longer.
Whilst the wedding might have been one of the happiest moments of Patrick’s life, the aftermath seems to be anything but happy. Unconfirmed reports are saying that Tony Stewart was already unhappy with Patrick this season because of her performance and the way that she raced Stenhouse Jr. on the track. Stewart felt that Patrick cut Stenhouse more slack on the track than she did her Stewart-Hass teammates. Now that the couple is married it might be safe to say that she will only be cutting Stenhouse more slack on the track. Stenhouse aside, Patrick’s perception as the weakest link on the team has only made this decision easier for Stewart and company.
At the time of this article being published there hasn’t been any drivers said to be targeted to replace Patrick, although speculation is that Kyle Busch will be pursued. A team that consists of the Busch brothers, Stewart and Kevin Harvick would easily be the hottest headed teams in all of NASCAR. Smoke, Rowdy, The Outlaw and Happy Harvick may not be the most dominating team but they will definitely be a team that no other driver will want to cross. Messing with this team might result in you getting beat up after the race.
Even though details behind all of this are scarce, the one thing that can be confirmed is that today is April Fools’ Day.
