NASCAR: Ranking The Top 30 Drivers On Twitter

Earlier this week Beyond The Flag revealed the most popular NASCAR driver in each state based on the number of times said driver was searched through Google and other databases online. Although this data was interesting it did indeed leave a bit to be desired. There are numerous reasons as to why someone might search for a drivers name online and many of them might not be because they happen to like that driver. Even though we felt that information was telling, we here at BTF decided to delve a bit deeper by taking a look at Twitter.

Twitter is arguably the most popular social media platform right now next to Facebook. With that in mind one would have to assume that anyone that follows a driver on Twitter must truly like that driver. Would a Kyle Busch fan ever follow Jimmie Johnson on Twitter? I am sure some fans follow other drivers to heckle them just as I am sure that others have multiple favorites or like to follow multiple drivers. Much like our state results, the Twitter results aren’t going to be an exact science. Regardless, the data below is still interesting, especially if you compare it with the state data which can be viewed by clicking the above link.

Did any of the NASCAR Twitter rankings surprise you? Were there any names not on the list that you thought would have been on it? I know that Juan Pablo Montoya no longer runs NASCAR but he did as of last year and he is expected to run the Brickyard this year. You also may have noticed that Carl Edwards isn’t on this list, that is because he either doesn’t have a Twitter account or he is very good at hiding it; for we simply were not able to locate it. Marcos Ambrose just missed the cut coming in 31st with just over 83,000 followers.
