As time has gone on four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon has gone from one of the sports most hated and mocked drivers to a wise and beloved veteran. Of course Gordon still has those who do not like him but it’s nowhere near what it was when he was winning championships. Part of Gordon’s current overall appeal is his sense of humor. He has done a couple of humorous videos with Pepsi and we all remember his stint on SNL.
Gordon has aged in NASCAR like a fine wine when it comes to his fan popularity; he simply keeps getting better with age. Well he is at it again and this time he has teamed up with Sprint and a talkative hamster. In a new commercial Gordon and the hamster are helping promote Sprint’s new “framily” plan. The commercial can be seen below.
While it’s entertaining to see Gordon in spots like this, one would have to assume that he will be all business Saturday night in Richmond. Gordon is still looking for his first win of 2014. Despite not having a win, he has run exceptionally well through the first eight races of the season. He is currently leading the point standings which is something that he has not done since the 2009 season. Gordon has also ran in the top-10 in six of eight races this season and has yet to finish outside of the top-15.
Be sure to tune into the Toyota Owners 400 to see how Gordon fairs in Richmond. Also, be sure to follow along with Beyond The Flag’s coverage of the event.
