NASCAR: Update On Contract Between Biffle And Roush

For Greg Biffle the 2014 season has been up and down. Much like this season Biffle’s future has also been in flux. Earlier this season Biffle seemed set that he would be returning to Roush Fenway Racing in 2015. In fact, he went as far to talk about how he expected a deal to come before summer. A few weeks would then go by and Biffle would then change his tone in regards to returning to RFR. Only weeks after making those first comments Biffle would then discuss how he has “options” in 2015 and that he isn’t worried because he knows that he will “be racing somewhere.”

Many people took his second round of comments to be writing on the wall for his departure from RFR. Flash forward another handful of weeks and rumors began to swirl that a deal between Biffle and RFR was imminent and that Carl Edwards would be the one leaving the team. Last week prior to the race in Sonoma Biffle took a moment to discuss where he stands with RFR and his new contract.

My deal is definitely not done, he told The Associated Press during practice at Sonoma Raceway. I’m trying to negotiate an extension. Nothing has changed.

While Biffle has yet to sign on the dotted line it would seem that all is in place for Biffle to stay with RFR in 2015. It was also announced last week that 3M is extending their relationship with Biffle. The sponsor extension is another sign that Biffle will not be leaving RFR. While many fans may believe that Roush should have locked up Edwards first and maybe even over Biffle, Roush clearly seems to not agree. While Edwards may still end up with RFR it is clear that they are choosing to make Biffle their priority.

Beyond The Flag will continue to monitor the contract situation between Biffle and RFR and will bring you all of the latest updates. In the meantime, let us know what you think about where Biffle will end up in 2015.
