NASCAR: Carl Edwards Officially Out At RFR in 2015

For months there has been speculation as to where Carl Edwards was going to race in 2015. At first it seemed that he would re-sign with Roush Fenway Racing and then it seemed as though that was going to be that last place he would be racing next season. While we still do not know where Edwards will race in 2015, we do know that he is going to have a new home.

Earlier today RFR announced their 2015 lineup of drivers and Edwards was not a part of that list. Below is who will be running with RFR in 2015.

  • Greg Biffle
  • Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
  • Trevor Bayne

It was rumored for a short time that RFR would add a fourth car and bring Edwards back into the fold but that obviously isn’t going to be the case. Edwards has been the bright spot in a disappointing season for RFR. With his two wins Edwards looks to be on his way to the chase while Biffle and Stenhouse Jr. have struggled for decent finishes this season.

Team Owner Jack Roush commented on the situation and Edwards departure via an RFR release.

I will always be thankful for Carl’s contribution and the role he played in many Roush Fenway wins and championships. We wish him well for the future.  In the meantime, we are excited about continuing our quest for a championship with Carl and the No. 99 team in 2014.

At the time of this writing nothing has been confirmed about where Edwards will land in 2015. It is still a strong rumor that he will join Joe Gibbs Racing but at this point it is only a rumor.
