The day has finally come: Tony Stewart, three-time Sprint Cup champion, 48 Sprint Cup-race winner (not counting exhibition events), two-time Brickyard 400 winner, two-time Sprint Cup champion car owner, will be retiring from NASCAR competition following the 2016 season.

More from NASCAR

Stewart’s last win came at Dover in June of 2013, hasn’t been a Chase-contending driver since 2012. In 28 starts in 2015, he’s only earned two top-10s, with a season-best finish of sixth at Bristol in April.

What’s heartbreaking for the fans is that they’ll never have another patented Stewart interview or another patented Stewart moment on the track where they’re left breathless. They’ll never have another patented Stewart lecture towards other drivers, crew, or media members. The fiery Indiana native is going to leave a huge void in the sport, this coming on the heels of Jeff Gordon’s retirement.

With that being said, here is a list of Stewart’s biggest moments as a NASCAR driver. These are what the fans will remember him most for.
