Every Verizon IndyCar Series season, we should expect the unexpected. What types of unexpected things should we expect this season?

Last season, a rookie won the Indy 500 on a fuel economy run. The series champion won by a record points margin of 127. Chevrolet cars won 14 of the 16 races. How many people predicted all of those things correctly?

Probably none. With the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season less than three weeks from getting underway, now is the right time to make some bold predictions for this season.

While these predictions are not extremely likely to happen, especially all of them together, they are the type of predictions that could very well happen if certain things go certain ways. None of them are impossible, and they make for good “I told you so” moments should any (or all) of them happen.
