NASCAR finished their west series with the Auto Club 400 at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. Kyle Larson had a strong performance and won his first race of the season. Here are five lessons we learned from the NASCAR Monster Energy Series Cup race on Sunday.

The Auto Club 400 this past Sunday was filled with high speeds and plenty of late race drama.

Kyle Larson was able to hold off top veteran drivers on a couple of restarts to finally win his first race of the season. This young driver went from runner-up to Victory Lane and is not only a race winner this year but is first in the points as well.

He’s looking to show just how much he’s improved from last year and he is ready to emerge as a top driver in NASCAR.

Another impressive driver on Sunday was Brad Keselowski. Brad and the 2 team ran into trouble at the start of the race but never gave up. They took a car that was damaged and finished the race in second. Keselowski and his team proved that having the right attitude in NASCAR can help a group overcome obstacles thrown at them during a race.

And while these two drivers were impressive this weekend, what’s going on with Joe Gibbs Racing? They were easily the top team during the regular season last year, but we’ve yet to see one of their drivers end up in Victory Lane. Has there run ended? Are they struggling more than they did last season?

NASCAR is already heading towards Martinsville for next weeks race, but before we go short track racing, here are five lessons we learned from the Auto Club 400 on Sunday.
