Tomy Drissi, not Joe Nemechek, will be behind the wheel of the No. 87 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series entry of NEMCO-Jay Robinson Racing when the circuit heads to Sonoma, Calif., this weekend for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 on Sunday.
“We’re very excited to have Tomy in the car,” owner and regular driver Nemechek said. “He brings a lot of road racing experience and should be really good at Sonoma.”
Drissi has competed on road courses, not only in NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide series, but also in Trans-Am, the World Challenge Series and American Le Mans.
“I’ve always enjoyed running at Sonoma,” Drissi said. “Pushing a Cup car around this place and putting The Wolverine movie (sponsor) in front of the fans should be a lot of fun.”
The Toyta/Save Mart 350 is scheduled to take the green flag shortly after 3 p.m. ET on Sunday. It can be seen live on TNT, with pre-race coverage set to start at 2 p.m. ET.
