NASCAR schedule, weather outlook for Auto Club Speedway

The NASCAR Sprint Cup and Xfinity series head into the final weekend of their three-race West Coast swing this weekend. This weeekend’s racing action is hosted by Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. Saturday’s Xfinity race, the, and the Sprint Cup race, the Auto Club 400, on Sunday will mark the fourth races of the season for both series. The Camping World Truck Series returns to action next weekend at Martinsville Speedway.

The Auto Club 400 Sprint Cup Series race will headline the weekend. Series points leader Kevin Harvick, a California native from Bakersfield, looks to win his third-straight race and grow his string of consecutive top-two finishes to eight, dating back to the final races of the 2015 season.

The weekend race weather for NASCAR racing in Southern California calls for “sunny and pleasant” skies  and high daytime temperatures ranging between the high-70s and low-80s. Nighttime lows in the 50s are expected.

The temperature for Friday, practice day for both series and qualifying day for the Sprint Cup Series, is expected to reach 82. A Saturday temperature of 79 degrees expected for the Xfinity Series race and the final two practice sessions for the Sprint Cup Series. Saturday night, the temperature is predicted to dip down to 51 degrees.

Sunday, Sprint Cup race day, is expected to be the coolest day of the weekend, with a high temperature of 76 degrees predicted.
