Loser: Joey Logano’s Reputation
We all know what happened between Joey Logano and Matt Kenseth last season. After the pair took turns taking each other out at Kansas and Martinsville, the Chase gave Logano many new haters, as if he didn’t have them before.
This weekend, Logano angered another team as his actions with Martin Truex Jr. brought out the bad side of the No. 78 crew.
With roughly 50 laps left in the race, Logano ran up on Truex Jr.’s bumper, causing the No. 78 to get loose and make contact with the wall. The initial hit led to issues for the team as the car went on to finish in 32nd-place, it’s worst finish of the season. After the race was over, Truex Jr.’s crew chief, Cole Pearn tweeted his thoughts on Joey Logano, which ultimately led to an apology a few hours later.
The incident has given Logano a new enemy as Truex Jr. stated that he would “race [Logano] differently” due to the exchange. Before he was ultimately taken out, Truex Jr. had led 21 laps and was a serious threat to win the race.
