IndyCar: What we know about the 2019 driver lineup

While not everything has been confirmed as far as the 2019 IndyCar driver lineup is concerned, several confirmations have been made. Here is what we know.

The 2018 IndyCar season ended with Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon moving into second place on the all-time IndyCar championships list behind only seven-time champion A.J. Foyt by earning his fifth career title.

While there are a lot of unknowns heading into the 2019 season as far as the driver lineup goes, specifically regarding which teams may or may not join the series, whether they will do so on a full-time basis or a part-time basis, and who their driver or drivers will be, there have been a sizable number of driver confirmations for next year as well.

Here is what we know regarding which drivers are set to drive for which teams in the 2019 season.

Chevrolet teams

A.J. Foyt Enterprises

  • Matheus Leist is set to return to A.J. Foyt Enterprises in the 2019 season, which is set to be his second season driving in IndyCar as well as his second season driving for A.J. Foyt Enterprises. His contract runs through the 2019 season.
  • Tony Kanaan is also set to return to A.J. Foyt Enterprises in the 2019 season, which is set to be his 22nd season driving in IndyCar as well as his second season driving for A.J. Foyt Enterprises. His contract also runs through the 2019 season.

Carlin Motorsport

  • Max Chilton is set to return to Carlin Motorsport in the 2019 season, which is set to be his fourth season driving in IndyCar as well as his second season driving for Carlin Motorsport. The length of his contract is unknown.
