Following an exciting Austrian Grand Prix that featured a controversial finish, how do Formula 1’s 20 drivers rank against one another in the Formula 1 Driver Power Rankings?

For the first time in the 2019 Formula 1 season, a non-Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport driver was victorious. It was Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen who earned the victory in the 21-race season’s ninth race, the Austrian Grand Prix, at the Red Bull Ring.

Verstappen’s victory in this 71-lap race around the 10-turn, 2.683-mile (4.318-kilometer) Red Bull Ring road course in Spielberg, Styria, Austria was the first victory by a non-Mercedes driver since he won the Mexican Grand Prix late last October.

Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas combined to win the next 10 races after this, with Hamilton winning eight, including six of the first eight this season, and Bottas winning two of the first four this season.

How did Verstappen’s first victory of the 2019 season affect the Formula 1 Driver Power Rankings? Here are the non-formulated Formula 1 Driver Power Rankings following the action from the Red Bull Ring.

Biggest Movers
Up: Lando Norris (+3)
Down: Nico Hulkenberg (-2)

There were no hugely surprising movements in this week’s edition of the formulated Formula 1 Driver Power Rankings. With his second career-high sixth place finish, Lando Norris moved up a field-high three positions from 12th to ninth. He notably finished ahead of Pierre Gasly in seventh. Gasly continues to struggle in his first season driving for Red Bull Racing.

Max Verstappen jumped ahead over Sebastian Vettel for third in these rankings after winning the Austrian Grand Prix in come-from-behind fashion. Vettel finished this race in fourth place. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton maintained his position at the top after his fifth place finish, which was just his third non-win and his first non-top two finish of the season.

The next race on the 2019 Formula 1 schedule is the season’s 10th race, the British Grand Prix. This race is scheduled to take place at Silverstone Circuit in England, United Kingdom on Sunday, July 14, and it is set to be broadcast live on ESPN2 beginning at 9:10 a.m. ET.
