Bubba Wallace 2021 landing spots – Richard Petty Motorsports

Richard Petty Motorsports were on the verge of shutting down during the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season, despite the fact that Bubba Wallace had signed a two-year extension with the team in July of 2018, before World Wide Technology formed a strategic partnership with Victory Junction and the team.

As a result, they finished out the 2019 season, and their start to the 2020 season has been one of their better starts in recent years. Wallace has been able to consistently finish in the top 15 and the top 20, and he was within striking distance of the playoff picture throughout much of the regular season.

In a perfect world, Richard Petty Motorsports continue to improve, they get the necessary funding they need to compete and Wallace continues driving the #43 Chevrolet to solid results en route to eventually competing for top 10 finishes on a regular basis. They have even already offered him a deal that includes a bigger ownership stake in the team than he already has.

While it may take some time to produce this level of improvement, returning to Richard Petty’s team next year is the most likely option for Wallace, especially given the recent rumors of additional investors, a switch from Chevrolet to Toyota, and a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing.

But multiple drivers have reportedly reached out to the team about this seat, and it could end up going to the highest bidder if Wallace declines, especially since there are several notable Xfinity Series drivers who could bid for it to make the jump to the Cup Series.

In that case, Wallace may look elsewhere. Which other options would he have?
