Possible 2021 John Hunter Nemechek landing spots: #2 – New team

One of the three new NASCAR Cup Series teams for the 2021 season isn’t getting a ton of attention, at least not compared to the other two new teams: the one started by NBA legend Michael Jordan and current Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin, 23XI Racing, and the one started by Justin Marks, Trackhouse Racing Team.

This other new team is currently known as “B. J. McLeod Motorsports with Matt Tifft and Joe Falk” and was formed when B.J. McLeod and Matt Tifft formed a partnership and then acquired the half-charter Go Fas Racing had used to field the #32 Ford. The other half was and remains owned by Circle Sport owner Joe Falk.

They are set to field the #78 Ford full-time in 2021. In the Cup Series, this is probably John Hunter Nemechek’s most likely landing spot considering the fact that Front Row Motorsports is officially off the table. Additionally, this would allow Nemechek to stay with Ford for at least another year.

Let’s also not forget what got Nemechek — and Tifft — to this point. With four races remaining in the 2019 season, Tifft was sidelined from his ride at Front Row Motorsports with seizures.

Nemechek replaced him for the final three races of the year, and that led to the full-time ride he is now giving up. It also led Tifft to venturing into Cup Series ownership as a way to get back into the action while his racing career itself remains in question.

This would be an ideal fit.
