Announcements we’re still waiting for: No. 3 – Kaulig Racing

Kaulig Racing purchased two charters from Spire Motorsports for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season to enter the series on a full-time basis for the first time.

They confirmed that Justin Haley, who competed for the team in the Xfinity Series from 2019 to 2021, is set to pilot one of their two entries, the #31 Chevrolet, on a full-time basis, but they did not initially solidify the driver lineup for their second entry, the #16 Chevrolet.

A.J. Allmendinger, who is set to compete for the team in the Xfinity Series for the second straight season next year, was announced as one of the drivers of their second car pretty early on, but only earlier this week was it confirmed that reigning Xfinity Series champion Daniel Hemric and Noah Gragson are set to join him.

The confirmation of Hemric made sense and was practically expected, given the fact that he is set to replace Haley behind the wheel of the #11 Chevrolet in the Xfinity Series. Gragson, meanwhile, is set to return to JR Motorsports for a fourth straight Xfinity Series season next year.

So what are we still waiting on?

We still don’t know the specific schedules for Allmendinger, Hemric or Gragson. More news regarding specific races and partners is slated to be announced at a later date.
