NASCAR bold predictions: No. 5 – Final Cup Series race at one venue (at least)

It’s no secret that NASCAR has enjoyed shaking up their premier series’ schedules over the last few seasons.

Fans of the sport have been introduced to a number of new venues and configurations of existing tracks in the past few years, including Circuit of the Americas, the Daytona International Speedway road course, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, and Nashville Superspeedway, to name a few.

The addition of these events, however, has come at the expense of the tracks that have been on the Cup Series schedule for years, including Kentucky Speedway and Chicagoland Speedway. Those two tracks have lost their only race dates in recent years.

Other venues, such as Dover International Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway, have also lost events to make way for the new events.

NASCAR has made it very clear that they have an objective to introduce new and reintroduce old venues to the Cup Series schedule in the coming years, and while we don’t know what other tracks will be added or when, this trend just about guarantees that we will continue to see at least one track host its final race in 2022.
