NASCAR drivers in jeopardy: No. 2 – Kurt Busch

Kurt Busch made the move to 23XI Racing as the driver of their newly added second car, the #45 Toyota, after a three-year stint at Chip Ganassi Racing, a team which ended up being acquired by Trackhouse Racing Team following the 2021 season.

While he has shown speed good enough to score two top five finishes and four top 10 finishes, twice and four times as many as teammate Bubba Wallace, respectively, he only sits in 20th place in the point standings thanks to his other poor results, including three finishes of 32nd or worse.

Busch entered the 2022 season on a streak of eight consecutive winning seasons, and 23XI Racing certainly appear to have given him a car capable of finding victory lane at least once before the season ends.

While it came in a rain-shortened superspeedway race at Talladega Superspeedway, they did manage to secure a victory in their first season in 2021 with Wallace behind the wheel of the #23 Toyota.

But will Busch be able to win in time to lock into the playoffs, or will he have to rely on his point total to keep his nine-year playoff streak alive?

Only Kevin Harvick has a longer active playoff streak going than Busch. We could very well see both of them end in 2022.
