Possible Mick Schumacher landing spots: No. 3 – Out of F1

It’s pretty simple for Mick Schumacher at this point. His goal needs to be to retain his current seat at Haas, because while he might be the favorite to land the Williams seat in the event that Logan Sargeant can’t score the necessary points to secure a Super License, there is very little chance that Sargeant won’t be able to do that at this point, given what is in front of him.

Schumacher had been previously mentioned as a possibility to join Alpine or AlphaTauri, but both of those doors recently shut when Alpine signed current AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly to replace the Aston Martin-bound Fernando Alonso and AlphaTauri instead opted for Nyck de Vries, who impressed just about everyone in his Formula 1 debut with Williams at Monza.

Schumacher has long been considered on the hot seat, and that could very well prove to be the case if Haas opt to sign somebody else. Back in the summer when Sebastian Vettel announced his impending retirement, he almost immediately vouched for Schumacher to take his place. Just as quickly, the team confirmed Alonso.

If Schumacher does indeed lose his seat and Sargeant replaces Nicholas Latifi as expected, will he find himself competing somewhere else outside of Formula 1? Will he try to do what Daniel Ricciardo is trying to do by sitting out of the 2023 season in an attempt to land a better opportunity for 2024? Could a reserve driver role be an option?
