UPDATE: Swan Racing Suspending Operations For 2014

UPDATE – Although not confirmed, it does appear that Swan Racing will be suspending operations on at least one of, if not both of its cars for the remainder of 2014. This article will be a running update of the Swan Racing situation. As Beyond The Flag learns more information we will compile it into this article and it will update automatically. Please look below for our most recent updates.

Late Thursday evening Beyond The Flag talked about the possibility of Swan Racing shutting down in 2014. This was on the heels of Swan Racing releasing the following statement on their Facebook page.

"Swan Racing is in the process of reviewing its current situation and the ability to continue to compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The team has been unable to secure the kind of sponsorship required to effectively operate the team. As a result, the team management is exploring every available option. We hope to be in position to provide a detailed update in the near future."

UPDATE #1 – It would appear the the end for Swan Racing could come as early as next Sunday in Richmond. It was revealed in a recent article by motorsport.com that Team Spokesperson Ramsey Poston said “Swan is accessing the situation.” The article also states that:

"Other sources familiar with the situation said it’s unlikely that Swan will field more than one car — if any — for the Apr. 25-26 NASCAR events at Richmond International Raceway."

UPDATE #2 – As if that news wasn’t ominous enough, reports from Godfather.com delveS even further into the Swan Racing collapse.

"Team employees were reportedly informed today that the team is suspending operations, and many of them are already seeking employment with other teams. Sources say there is a possibility that Cole Whitt’s No. 26 Toyota could be absorbed into the existing BK Racing operation, if Swan Racing is unable to continue."

UPDATE #3 – Speaking of Whitt and his future for the 2014 season. Swan Racing minority owner Anthony Marlowe – who also serves as co-founder and president of TMOne — commented on the situation today via his Twitter account.

The fact that Marlowe is opening saying he will try to get Whitt into every race this season all but officially confirms Swan Racing is going under. It’s great that Marlowe has Whitt’s back but who the heck is looking out for Parker Kligerman? Does this mean that Kligerman is simply out in the cold?

UPDATE #4 – Early Monday it was confirmed via a representative for Fuel Management that Cole Whitt currently does not have a ride for Saturday nights race at Richmond. Whitt is currently looking to get into a ride for the race Saturday night. There is no word yet as to what the status for Parker Kligerman is for the Richmond race.

UPDATE #5 – The Richmond Entry List has been published and Cole Whitt and Parker Kligerman are both on it but neither have a sponsor listed for their cars. Whitt is currently 34th in owner points and Kligerman is 42nd.

UPDATE #6 – Swan Racing has sold all of its assets. No. 26 car with Cole Whitt will go to BK Racing. No. 30 car was sold without Kligerman going with it. Kligerman is without a ride. See the full story HERE.
