Changes made: Following a NASCAR inspection in March of 2015, modifications were made to the cut-out area in Turn 3 and to the pit road opening. Other than those changes, nothing was done.

Comment: Austin Theriault had a terrible crash in a Camping World Truck Series race in October of 2015 which many feel would not have been as violent had SAFER barriers been in place at the location which he hit.

They’re right.

The speedway claims that SAFER barriers will be installed at that location prior to March of 2016 when the Cup Series returns, and that those plans had been in place before Theriault’s accident. I’ll believe it when I see it.
