NOT – Austin Dillon and Kyle Larson

Heading into the Sprint Showdown a lot of the talk centered around these two rookies. Many experts picked either Austin Dillon or Kyle Larson (some picked both of them) to finish in one of the top-two spots and advance to the Sprint All-Star Race. Dillon made those that picked him look even better when he won the pole for the Sprint Showdown. However when the 40 lap dash was over neither rookie was able to race their way into the Sprint All-Star Race. Both of these drivers have very bright futures in the world of NASCAR and ultimately not making the race isn’t going to matter. However, on that night and in that moment both rookies had a chance to step up and neither of them were able to do so.
