HOT – Carl Edwards

Sunday in Sonoma Carl Edwards won his second race of the season. The win will now guarantee him a spot in the chase as it is his second of the season, it will also help improve his seeding going into the chase. The win at Sonoma was impressive on a couple of different levels for Edwards and the No. 99 team. First off, this was the first road course victory in the career of Edwards, a feat that deserves credit as road courses are an animal all their own. Secondly, Edwards has been under a great deal of spotlight this season because of his upcoming free agency. Roush isn’t expected to resign Edwards and in the past weeks he has been linked to Penske, RCR and most recently Joe Gibbs Racing. Despite all of the added attention and the rumor mill churning non-stop, Edwards has managed to remained focused. That focus has put Edwards in a prime position to contend for a championship in what appears to be his final season in the No. 99 machine for Roush Fenway Racing.
