NASCAR: Looking Ahead At The 2015 Potential Free Agents

No. 1 Jamie McMurray
Coming out of Bristol McMurray finds himself 21st in the point standings and 60 points out of the final spot in the 2014 chase. Things looked to be turning for McMurray after his victory in the Sprint All-Star Race but thus far he and his team have yet to find Victory Lane. McMurray does have seven top-10 finishes this season but he also has six finishes of 30th or worse. 60 points is a lot to overcome in two races which means that McMurray’s best chance to make the chase is to win at Atlanta or Richmond.
McMurray is part of a two-car operation at Chip Ganassi Racing along with rookie Kyle Larson. Larson is signed through 2017 so he will without question be there after 2015. McMurray on the other hand may be on his way out. McMurray has always shown a lot of promise but that promise has been shadowed by Larson. With a few other bigger names potentially hitting the open market after 2015 it would seem that Ganassi might be looking to upgrade. The team and Larson would both benefit if a driver upgrade is made.
Prediction: Jamie McMurray will be looking for a new team after 2015.
