Take 5: Five Takeaways From The Third Chase Race

Take 4 – If only Kyle Larson had taken the final chase spot.
Back at Richmond a few weeks ago it was Greg Biffle, Kyle Larson and Clint Bowyer battling for the final spot in the chase, as we all know Biffle ended up securing that spot. Flash forward three weeks and Biffle is out of the chase while Larson is currently red-hot, if only Larson had taken that final spot over Biffle. Having Larson in the chase would have added a wrinkle all of its own, a rookie battling for a championship is drama and excitement all on its own. Through the first three races in the chase Larson has finished 3rd, 2nd and 6th. If Larson had made the chase over Biffle not only would we not had to have watched Biffle suffer through three races with cars that didn’t give him a shot to advance, but Larson would have made the second round of the chase. In this fun scenario that would also mean that Kasey Kahne would have been knocked out of the chase. Then again, who knows if Larson would have performed this well if he was under the pressure of being in the chase. Regardless, I do believe that watching Larson still would have been more interesting than watching Biffle and Larson will be in the chase come 2015.
