It had been 32 races since Jeff Gordon had last found his way to victory lane but there was hope on that Sunday as Gordon had run so well at Martinsville in the past. With 21 laps to go in the race Gordon made would turned out to be the winning pass on his way to his 8th Martinsville victory. For Gordon and the No. 24 team this was one of their best moments of the 2013 season, a win again this weekend would put Gordon into the championship race at Homestead-Miami.
