Checkered Countdown: Top-Five Martinsville Finishes

No. 3 – Ryan Newman wins after Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson wreck on restart (2012).

It looked like either Jeff Gordon or Jimmie Johnson were going to pick up another win at Martinsville as they were running in the top-two spots on the G-W-C restart. However, Johnson and Gordon had older tires which allowed Clint Bowyer the chance the dive below them and from there the seas parted ways for Ryan Newman. Newman would manage the next restart and go onto win the race that day.
