NASCAR: Who’s Hot And Who’s Not Heading Into Texas

HOT – Ryan Newman and Matt Kenseth

Something has to be said for being consistent. Newman and Kenseth have not won a race this season but both of them are in the hunt to win a championship. Many folks had Newman not making it past the first round of the chase but here he is, alive and well with two races to go in the third round. The same can be said for Kenseth who looked so good early before a mini slump. Since that slump Kenseth has been just as consistent as Newman which is why he is still in this chase. NASCAR will never admit it but there is no way they want either of these drivers to make it to the final race unless they win before then. A winless-champion is not something NASCAR wants, especially with the new chase format debuting this season. A couple more solid finishes for these two drivers and they both could be racing for the title at Homestead-Miami.
