Take 5: Five Thoughts Heading Into Phoenix

Take 1 – Jimmie Johnson won at Texas, I repeat; Jimmie Johnson won at Texas.

Hey guys look over here!! Jimmie Johnson won the race this past weekend at Texas and literally nobody is talking about it. The pit road brawl has gotten all the attention since the checkered flag waved Sunday night at Texas Motor Speedway. Also, Chad Knaus made it clear that he was staying with the No. 48 team this week; another headline that was buried by the fallout of the pit road brawl. Johnson and company may not have received the attention that they deserved last weekend in Texas but they might get it if they go out there and win again this weekend in Phoenix. Johnson and the No. 48 team are all about momentum and when they get on a roll good things tend to come in bunches. If Johnson wins again this weekend it will be the third straight chase race to be won by a non-chase driver. A win in Phoenix would also be his fifth of the year and it could keep a current chase driver from advancing to the championship race next weekend at Homestead-Miami. Oh and if you were not aware, Johnson won this past weekend at Texas.
